FAQs and Delivery Policy

Frequently Asked Questions

How much mulch do I need?

1 yard covers 100 sqft at a depth of 2-3 inches.

How many bags are in a yard of bulk mulch?

13-15 bags equals 1 yard of bulk mulch.

How heavy is 1 yard of gravel?

1 yard of gravel typically weighs around 1 ton (2,000 pounds). Our heaviest products, asphalt grindings and 304 limestones, weigh about 1.2 tons per yard (2,400 pounds).

How heavy is 1 yard of topsoil?

Topsoil weighs between 1800 pounds and 2000 pounds, depending on moisture. Typically, topsoil is heavier in the springtime (wet seasons).

Is it ok to mulch in the rain or when heavy rain is forecasted?

No. We do not recommend spreading color-enhanced products when rain is forecasted. It will cause the mulch to wash out. It is ok to leave your mulch in a pile during the rain. The washout just occurs on the outer shell of the pile. If possible, a tarp will keep your mulch fresh until it is time to spread.

Should I put a tarp down before you deliver mulch, topsoil, or gravel?

A tarp will keep your driveway clean, but all the products will wash off the concrete with the proper cleaner.

Can you deliver the material to our backyard?

Unfortunately, our trucks usually do not fit in the backyard. If the conditions allow, we will attempt to dump the material where the customer prefers. Our main goal is always customer satisfaction.

Delivery

Our single-axle trucks can accommodate residential delivery. Our maximum loads based on material is as follows:

  • Mulch: 15 yards
  • Topsoil/Compost: 8 yards
  • Sand and Gravel: 8 yards

Tailgating is available upon request prior to delivery. We are happy to make several trips, but additional delivery rates will apply.

Delivery Instructions

  • Please ensure that you have a dump spot clearly marked for the driver (with a tarp, bucket, marked with an X, etc.).
  • If someone is home, they may direct the driver.
  • When deciding on a spot to dump, please ensure the location is free of overhead obstacles such as power lines, branches, basketball hoops, etc.
  • If the conditions allow (dry and level surfaces), we will dump the material in your yard off the driveway. Going off the concrete driveway increases the risk of cracking it.
  • To avoid being “mulched in,” please ensure all your vehicles are out of the garage.
